Our Mission and Vision

The Meso Trust (IT 162/2024) is a dedicated charity committed to supporting individuals and communities in the Northern Cape impacted by asbestos mining. Our mission is to offer comprehensive assistance to those suffering from mesothelioma, a severe cancer linked to asbestos exposure. We have taken over from the Kgalagadi Relief Trust (KRT) and continue to provide aid until February 2026 for those previously supported by KRT. Post-February 2026, our focus will shift to new mesothelioma cases arising from asbestos exposure in the region. We offer financial aid, healthcare, counselling, and community education on asbestos safety, all under the guidance of our Trustees.

Our Legal Foundation

The Meso Trust’s founding deed outlines our commitment to public benefit activities, including alleviating distress and poverty for those affected by mesothelioma due to asbestos exposure in the Northern Cape. We provide free welfare, humanitarian, counselling, and palliative care services. Our support extends to registered organisations offering welfare or healthcare services to eligible individuals. We also fund community education on asbestos safety and use specific donations for related causes, where permitted. All benefits are voluntary and granted at the Trustees’ discretion, in accordance with the Trust Deed.
